1. An officer holding an appointment of a class ordinarily recruited locally, to which the leave regulations set out in General
24 FEBJ3)
Orders 147, 148, 158, 159,160 and 166 do not apply, may be granted vacation leave as stated hereunder:-
(a). If the initial annual salary of the appointment held by him exceeds £100 or $1,000 he may be granted vacation leave not exceeding a maximum of six weeks in respect of any one year. Such leave my we allowed to accumulate for two years provided that the officer's absence on vacation leave does not exceed a total of three months during and in respect of any two consecutive calendar years. An officer will not, except in exceptional cases, be granted si" weeks vacation leave unless he has served at least nine months nor three months' vacation leave unless he has served at least eighteen mont.s.
(b). If the initial annual salary of the appointment held by him does not exceed £100 or $1,000 he may not be granted more than 28 days vacation leave during and in respect of any one calendar year without the special approval of the Governor, waich will only be given in very exceptional circumstances.
2. If such leave is to be spent in the Colony it may be granted to an officer of tuis class for periods not exceeding seven days at one time or a total of fourteen days in one year by the head of his Department. Vacation leave which would cause these limits to be exceed- -ed can only be granted with the approval of the Governor.
3. When the total absence at one time on vacation leave does not
exceed fourteen days, Sundays and public holidays occurring during absence on such leave will not be counted in reckoning the amount of
vacation leave taken.
4. When an officer applies for vacation leave only he must make
arrangements to the satisfaction of the Government for the discharge of
his duties without expense or inconvenience to the Government.
b. An officer of this class way also be granted half-pay leave on account of resident service, not exceeding four weeks in respect of eachyear of such service. Such half-pay leave may not ordinarily be
accumulated, but in any case which appears to the Governor to deserve
